Definition
Blue chips are the shares of the largest and most stable companies.

In the US stock market, these companies include Apple, Amazon, Coca-Cola, Tesla, etc. In Russia - Sberbank, Gazprom, Lukoil, Yandex, Rosneft and others.

They are distinguished by the highest liquidity on the stock exchange, the stability of financial indicators and the stability of the credit rating.
The term "blue chips" came from the casino, where players use chips of different colors: blue, red and white. Blue are the most expensive chips. As the stock market developed, blue chips came to be called the safest stocks.
