Ex-dividend date

Definition

Ex-dividend date is the date after which the shares will be sold without the right to receive dividends.

Example

Shareholders of PJSC Tatneft approved dividends for the first half of 2022 in the amount of ₽32.71 per share. The Book closure date is October 11, 2022. Ex-dividend date is October 7, 2022.

More detailed

In order to receive dividends, an investor needs to be on the list of shareholders eligible to receive dividends. To do this, it is necessary to take into account the Mode of Trading on the exchange and determine the ex-dividend date. For example, on the Moscow Exchange, the Mode of Trading is “T + 2”.
Therefore, to determine the ex-dividend date, it is necessary to subtract 2 business days from the date of closing the register.
